National Poetry Month is right around the corner and what better way to celebrate than to watch Chicago poets in action? Poets and Patrons of Chicago (P&P) and the Illinois State Poetry Society (ISPS) are co-sponsoring a joint open mic reading at After-Words Bookstore in Chicago on Thursday, April 13.

The reading will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in a newly renovated room in the bookstore. Participating poets include Peter Halliday, Jocelyn Ajami, Susan T. Moss, Diane O’Neill, Mary Ann Eiler, Judith Tullis, Caroline Johnson, Melissa Huff, Myron Stokes, David Nekimken, Beth Staas, Sheila Elliott, Joe Carey, and Fereshteh Azad.

Food and beverages will be served at this free event, and the store will stay open until 10 p.m. that evening for those who want to linger afterwards.
